"Special Member" to "Direct Member" Change
Effective February 1, 2021, with direction from the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), PHC is changing the "Special Member" name to "Direct Member." This is a name change only, PHC benefits or how members receive care are not affected. During this transition, please note that PHC member ID cards that show "PCP: Special Member," are still acceptable. Please continue to perform eligibility checks as you would for all members. In addition, please note that the Online Services Provider Portal and any outdated Providers Newsletters may still contain the term "Special Member".
