"Special Member" to "Direct Member" Change
PHC is changing the "Special Member" name listed for primary care providers (PCPs) to "Direct Member." This is a name change only. Your PHC benefits or how you receive care is not changing. If your PHC member ID card shows "PCP: Special Member," you can still use it. If you would like a new ID card with "Direct Member," you can print a new Member ID card from the Member Portal or call Member Services, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at
(800) 863-4155, and choose Option 2.
Pharmacy Benefit: Change to Medi-Cal Rx
UPDATE (February 18, 2021): The change to Medi-Cal Rx has been delayed. A new start date has not been given. PHC will continue to provide the full pharmacy benefit until the official change. Once the official change happens, your pharmacy benefit will be provided by the Department of Health Care Services instead of PHC. Your prescription medications will be covered by Medi-Cal Rx.
