Illicit fentanyl and other high potency synthetic opioids (F/HPSO) are a growing public health concern, and are largely responsible for an increasing number of overdoses and poisoning deaths in the United States. While F/HPSO are not new, our understanding of F/HPSO is incomplete and clinical experience has outpaced research.
